Chesapeake Chats with Nestor Aparicio of Baltimore Positive



Meet Nestor Aparicio, of Baltimore Positive.

Baltimore Positive is the vision and the creative extension of four decades of sharing the love of local sports for this Dundalk native and University of Baltimore grad, who began his career as a sportswriter and music critic at The News American and The Baltimore Sun in the mid-1980s. Launched radio career in December 1991 with Kenny Albert after covering the AHL Skipjacks. Bought WNST-AM 1570 in July 1998, created WNST.net in 2007 and began diversifying conversations on radio, podcast and social media as Baltimore Positive in 2016. 








We asked Nestor a few questions in a recent chat about his love of all things Chesapeake. Here is what he had to say!


Question: If Chef John Shields were to prepare a three-course meal for 6 in your home, who would be joining you and what are you eating?

Answer: My wife Jennifer, my son Barry and his wife Aubrie. If I pick two other people, I’d disappoint everyone else so we’d be a foursome! I’d let John bring a friend!

 

  • Sausage and Lentil Soup.

  • Rocket Salad with summer heirloom tomatoes lots of goat cheese, crunchy nuts and a champagne vinaigrette. 

  • Rockfish with beurre blanc and capers with creamy mashed potatoes and wilted garlic spinach.

 

Do I get a dessert?

 

Question: If the Chesapeake Bay were on a dating site what would be the top three qualities on its profile?

Answer: Salty. Tasty. Ready for adventure!


Question: For you, what does a perfect day on the Chesapeake look like?

Answer: Someone competent driving the boat and me with the wind in my hair and a beer in my hand with a destination awaiting with hot, steamed crabs pulled from a proper tributary in late August.


Question: What is your favorite Chesapeake memory?

Answer: Brian Billick look us out on his boat from Annapolis to St. Michael’s on a picture-perfect summer day back in 2005. Legendary.  


Question: What does being in the Chesapeake Bay region mean to you and/or your business? 

Answer: The importance of local and our water. You can’t have a Maryland Crab Cake Tour without the Chesapeake!
